Daily Practices to Strengthen Your Immune System at Home

We are living in challenging times; challenges to our health are all around us. One of the only ways that we can overcome this is by building a strong immune system to fight diseases. Our body has a natural gift that comes to our rescue and protects us from common diseases. This gift is our immune system. When taken care of it can defend us from various disease. Here are some ways by which you can strengthen your immunity:

1) Citrus fruits: Almost all citrus fruits are rich in vitamin C, an essential vitamin to build a strong immune system. The popular citrus fruits are grapefruit, oranges, clementines, tangerines, lemons and limes.

2) Exercise: There is nothing better to strengthen your body than good exercise. Spend 30min daily on some form of exercise. It could be weight training, gymming, running, walking, swimming or playing a sport. Get that heart racing and break a sweat, it is good for your body.

3) Pranayama: Pranayama or regular breathing exercises are great for building a healthy immunity. Pranayama practices provide more oxygen to the blood stream reduces stress levels and helps fights anxiety all these boost the immune system. 4) Get good sleep: 7-8 hours a day can truly keep the doctor away. Our body heals in its sleep, and the cells in our body regenerate and get recharged for the next day. Sleep deprivation also increases cortisol levels, which are not good for immune function.

5) Control stress: Stress is one of the main reasons for ill-health. Unfortunately the lives we lead are very stressful and cause a great deal of disease among the population. While a stress free life may not be possible, we need to find ways to manage stress. Yoga and meditation can come to your rescue during these times. Learn proper yoga and meditation techniques and utilise them to combat stress.

If you want to stay healthy and free from disease you need to work on your immune system. Practice the methods above and take care of your body.
