These Covid days are truly challenging to get by. We often find ourselves in positions of grief
due to the loss of someone we loved or feel defeated due to other unpleasant occurrences. We
get caught up in moments of low and we just do not seem to find a way out. You must put
down the weight of you cant carry and let go of such things in order to move on. Clinging on to
the past will do you even more damage than the event itself.
Here are a few pointers to help you let go of negative situations in your life:
1) Don’t play the victim game!: This is a commonly used defense which can have quite
catastrophic consequences. Playing a victim will affect all your relationships, personal
and professional. You may feel that you are in your comfort zone but you will not make
any progress in life by being there.
2) Acceptance: Practice acceptance. Once you accept what has happened, you will find it
easy to let go off it. Stop struggling in the situation but just let it pass. By doing this you
get less emotionally detached from the situation and begin to feel better.
3) Forgive: When wronged we have 2 ways of responding- either we hold on to it as a
grudge or choose to let go and forgive the person. Forgive yourself for your own well
being, I always say forgiveness does more good to you than anybody else. Just forgive
and move on.
4) Focus on what you can influence in your life: Focus only on what you can change. Do
not try to handle everything. Let your energy flow to things in your control and control
them for the better.
