5 Tips to Help You Stay in the Present Moment.

The best place to be in is always the present moment. Everything in reality happens there and there only. The rest is thoughts and imagination. The thoughts we have of our past and our imagination about our future. Most of us spend way too much time thinking about the past and/or imagining the future. Here are 5 tips to help you stay in the present:

1) Focus on one thing at a time: Even though you may think differently the human being was never meant to multi task. When we single task you will observe that you can achieve much more, that is because we only live in the present moment. Avoid multi-tasking, do not use your smart phone while at work or watch TV at the same time. Make a checklist of things to do if you have multiple tasks lined up, but ensure to do them one at a time.

2) Take it slow: As you begin your day do not start in a hurry, keep a slow pace. Doing things at a slower pace will help you stay in the present. Whether it is having breakfast, doing your exercise or your work, do not rush into it.

3) Say to yourself: now I am…: As you go through your day check yourself and see if you are aware of the present moment. When washing your hands for example You could say to yourself “Now I am washing my hands”. This habit prevents us from drifting away from the present to the future or the past. Keep telling yourself this when you feel you are fading away in time.

4) Lessen the things that enter your mind early in the day: Do not do things like checking your email, Facebook or websites early in the day. If you do this you will crowd your mind with clutter that will not let you be in the present. Avoiding these things makes the mind lighter and helps it stay in the moment.

5) Use the phrase No-No: It is natural for us to drift away several times in a day. Whenever you see yourself drifting away make sure to call yourself back to the present. After that focus on your breath and bring your attention to the present.

You will find you peace when you are in the present. I have worked on a simple program for you to attain peace of mind. You cannot force peace to come to you. You can’t pressurize it. If you aren’t feeling it you aren’t calling it and you aren’t going to have it! Did you know that, life is so much connected with acting. Why do you think a handful of actors win so many Grammy Awards? It is because they get so into their roles that they get their fans to believe they are really into their roles. Your unhappiness could simply be because you think your life isn’t happening the way you want it to. You forget that if all you asked for arrived at your doorstep instantly and all together you would be overwhelmed and would not know what to do with it all!
